In my view, there are two places where fog and drizzle only enhance their surrounding’s natural beauty: the Pacific Northwest and Big Sur. Two of my all-time favorites. They never disappoint, always impress. It is the perfect blend of rugged landscapes, rustic log cabins, and the surprise of dining at a five-star resort tucked in nature. Redwoods to your right, the ocean to the left. The marine layer rolling in, and spotty cell coverage as a constant.

STAY
Big Sur River Inn - you can opt to stay in the main building or in one of the simple cabins. The general store across the street is not the most inviting but does serve delicious breakfast wraps.
At the other end of the spectrum: indulge yourself in a carefully curated sanctuary for ‘visionaries, seekers and romantics’ at Ventana Big Sur.
