In my opinion, there are two places where fog and drizzle only enhance their surrounding’s natural beauty: the Pacific Northwest and Big Sur. Two of my all-time favorites. They never disappoint, always impress. It is the perfect blend of rugged landscapes, rustic log cabins, and the surprise of dining at a five-star resort tucked in nature. Redwoods to your right, the ocean to your left. The marine layer rolling in, and spotty cell coverage as a constant.

STAY

Big Sur River Inn - you can opt to stay in the main building or in one of the simple cabins. The general store across the street is not the most inviting but does serve a solid breakfast wrap.

At the other end of the spectrum: indulge yourself in a carefully curated sanctuary for ‘visionaries, seekers and romantics’ at Ventana Big Sur.
